Program Titles Defined
Coaches are older, wiser inmates that have been trained to support those younger inmates who have expressed a willingness to fully invest themselves into their rehabilitative and re-entry efforts.
Mentees are young inmates who possess a sincere interest in working with a Coach to promote their educations, vocational, and character development.
Partnerships are formed when a coach and mentees are "matched." Partnerships that do not work our or that reach their maturation are then "closed."
Coach Coordinators are inmates responsible for forming each partnership and then mentoring them by engaging with coaches at bi-weekly Coaches' Conferences.
Program Directors are staff members responsible for the scheduling, oversight and tracking of all official program activities over the course of each month/year.
Support Team Members are staff members from various institutional departments who are dedicated to helping facilitate a variety of program functions and can attain whatever program resources are needed.
Program Mode: One-to-One Partnerships
The HOPE Program employs a one-to-one model that matches each Coach to a Mentee in order to form a "partnership." Together, these partners will design a personalized pogrom that meets the Mentee's individual rehabilitative and re-entry needs. Each partnerships will frequently meet to encourage the Mentee's continued growth and development and to address any difficulties he may be facing. Coaches will also meet collectively at weekly Coach's Conferences in order to assist one another with any issues that may have arisen within their partnerships. Staff assistance is always available, especially for any issues requiring professional intervention or expertise.
