All Coach Applicants Will:
- Be approximately 35 years of age or older
- Have served approximately 10 or more years in prison
- Possess either a high school diploma or GED
- Be willing to make a one year commitment to the program
- Agree to meet weekly for a "Coach's Conference" and Training Session to discuss partnership progress
- Commit to meeting twice per week with (each) Mentee
- Complete the Coach's Training Seminar
- Be willing and able to devote at least one hour of personal attention per week to EACH mentee
- Have the ability and desire to lead by example in all aspects of daily living
- Maintain "clear conduct" and avoid all "serious" institutional incident reports
- Record a positive evaluation from the Psychology Department
- Obtain a referral from at least one staff member and one inmate attesting to candidate's good character and reliability.
Mentee Qualification Criteria
All Mentees will:
- Be between the ages of 18-30
- Have at least six months remaining until projected release date
- Possess a sincere interest and willingness to receive guidance from a HOPE Coach
- Agree to follow all of the program rules and guidelines
- Obtain a Referral or Approval from Staff
